“What is the purpose of corporations?” or ‘Maximizing profits for the shareholder’ in business school, are we still going down that path for shareholders?” Sundaram and Inkpen have taken the essence of those questions and presented a paper in 2004 (attached) that seeks to answer from their perspective of both shareholder and stakeholder.
