I would create a literacy-rich environment in my classroom but not limiting genres. Students will have the flexibility of choosing reads they might enjoy. There will be calendars of the days of the week or months posted in the room which promote literacy. In a science room, the teacher can promote literacy by playing games such as Kahoot! to prepare for a quiz or test. If the class is learning about the weather, they can read a book about weather, drawing pictures of the weather, singing songs about the weather, writing in a journal, or keeping graphs of the daily temperature.
